Therefore it is employed to solve friction, wear and material flow problems in many areas of the industry. The distinct features of PE-UHMW are that it is nontoxic, tasteless and odorless. It is highly resistant to corrosive chemicals except oxidizing acids; it has a very low coefficient of friction (significantly lower than nylon and acetal, comparable to that of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE, Teflon), but PE-UHMW has better abrasion resistance than PTFE.).
PE-UHMW is self-lubricating; and is highly resistant to abrasion. It is 15 times more resistant to abrasion than carbon steel. It has extremely low moisture absorption.
